I'm Dr. Saira Sabzaali, Ph.D., RCC. I work online with high-achieving professionals dealing with burnout, family strain, and depression, and I have a particular commitment to BIPOC clients who've felt misunderstood in counselling before.

So many of the people I work with did everything right. Their parents left everything behind so their kids could have the degrees and the careers and the house, and they got them, and somewhere along the way the connection that used to hold everyone together got thinner. Now there’s a tiredness that sleep doesn’t fix, or a family dinner that ends the same way every time, or a heaviness that’s hard to explain to anyone, because on paper, you’re fine, right?
A tiredness that sleep doesn't fix.
A family dinner that ends the same way every time.
A heaviness that's hard to explain, because everyone thinks you're fine.
I know that place. I've lived through burn-out and depression myself, and I know what I didn't get when I was hurting, and how hard it was to ask for help. That's a big part of why I do this work.

Most people see me for 10 to 20 sessions, online. Each session gives you something practical to try in your own life.

Introducing Dr. Saira Sabzaali, Ph.D. | Stenberg

I’ve been a counsellor since 2007, and I still love this work. My Ph.D. is in Transpersonal Psychology, which means I make room for faith, culture, and meaning in whatever language fits you, or none at all.
I also teach and supervise other counsellors, and I’ve spoken on two TEDx stages about what we carry from our families and why people matter more than things. These talks and interviews are a good place to get to know me.

It’s truly my passion to help people have the right tools and gain insight on how to create the life they’ve always dreamt of. Throughout my work with my clients, I have refined my tools and developed strategies to help people reach their goals easily and effortlessly while having emotional support with someone who truly cares and is on their side.
Her rare ability to articulate, communicate, collaborate, and teach these concepts that all counsellors need to know is exceptional.

The best way to find out is a free 20-minute consult. You can book it through our booking system. We'll talk about what’s going on and what you’re hoping for, and you can ask me anything. There’s no pressure to book a session afterwards.
I work online with adults across Canada. If you’re outside BC, mention where you live when you book, so I can confirm I’m able to work with you.
You’ll see current session fees when you book through our booking system, before anything is confirmed.
Many extended health plans cover Registered Clinical Counsellors, so check your plan. I’ll give you a receipt after every session that you can submit for reimbursement.
Most people see me for somewhere between ten and fifteen sessions. We work on what’s wearing you down, and you leave with skills you can use on your own. When you’re ready, we have a graduation session, and some people check in every few months after that.
We talk about what brought you here and what you’d like to be different. You don’t need to have it figured out or know what to call it. Most people don’t.
Not at all. My training makes room for faith, culture and meaning if those matter to you, and if they don’t, that’s fine too. I’ll use your language, not mine.
No. I don’t diagnose, assess, or advise on medication. If you’re working with a doctor or psychiatrist, I’m happy to work alongside them.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 48 hours’ notice through our booking system. Late cancellations and missed sessions are charged 50% of the session fee. I make exceptions for genuine emergencies, so just let me know what happened.
